We put down our animals when they are in pain but the same rights are not extended to humans. This is a nod to religion because apparently, animals don't have souls. It seems ironic to me that 'Jesus' wants his flock to spend their last days, screaming in agony with no dignity, but what do I know??

The other and more relevant point in my opinion is that unscrupulous family members could 'bump off' their mums and dads in order to get their hands on the inheritance. This one is trickier. It would need careful legislation and the person would need to be in sound mind for it to be carried out (another tragedy for Alzeimers and dementia sufferers who won't have this choice).

In the end, I believe it should be possible. The right to die with dignity should be a basic human right.
