how do you get wifi?

You pretty much have three options. One which I recommend is buying a router. Having a router is the best solution because it has the best wireless range also, a router can be used to connect multiple computers to a network. The downside of a router is that it is the most expensive option.
Your next option is to buy a usb wifi adapter from nintendo. This is a cheaper solution but the downside is that the range will be limited.
Your third option which I am not sure is even possible is to buy a usb Ethernet adapter which you would then plug into you router or network hub. As I said, I am not sure if this option is possible at this point in time.
SO I recommend buying a router, but if you do not want to spend the money then I would suggest buying the usb network adapter.

You need to have a router with wireless capabilities already with your home internet connection, whether it be cable modem or dsl. If you are having trouble connecting, maybe you don't have the hardware. Try plugging the wii directly into the router(or hub) and see if you can access the internet that way.

the wii already has WiFi just hook it up with the cable of the internet connection

you can hook it up to your home wireless network or you can buy the nintendo usb connected wifi connector
