I was wondering if some people can just set their mind to do the work they are assigned to and don't fret about it. People who love their job are happier than those who doesn't. I am confused between choosing the job or course my parents asked me to or the one which I really love.

Here is reality.

Its nice to have passion for your work, but it really is all about paying the bills. Unfortunatley, most things that can be considered fun or interesting dont pay dirt, and dirt doesnt pay for the overpriced cost of living in the US.

It also depends on how you view work. Some people view it as their life, and their work is an extension of them, some people simply leave the job at the office, and completely disconnect from the job. Basically, a job is a job. I think its hard to be passionate about any job when you are the ladder.

Depends on if you have a back up job in case the dream job fails. Or a degree or trade in something else, cause dream jobs like actors, sports, your own business, or something competitive like sales might not work out so hopefully you are trained in something else to fall back on. Goodluck

You should choose the job that you want.Choosing for your parents isn't going to make you happy. I like my job,but don't love it.I just have a "I have to do what I have to do" attitude. If you have the opportunity to find a job that you love, then do that.Do what you feel passionate about.

I would choose the one that I love to do since if you are going to a job just to please your parents, you will not like the job and if you do not like your job, your job performance will not be what it should be, which might result in you being terminated.

You should work at what YOU are happiest at, but sometimes economics prevail, and you must "settle" for more money, and put up with a job you don't necessarily like, but can perform satisfactorily. A good attitude helps a lot in this situation! :)

well, first, you are employed for YOU not them. if they like a certain job so much, they can do it. and leave you to yours. would you marry whomever they told you to and let them live thru you? and second..i personally have to enjoy my job or i dont have the capability of keeping it. any job i have ever not liked i have stayed at for a year...and then quit. i finally found a job i liked and im going to go to college to continue my career in this field...i hope you find a career youre happy with.
