My favorite was "Chicken Little", the sky is falling, the sky is falling. My Mom must have hid that book because I never saw it when I grew up, I know she was tired of reading the same book night after night. LOL Sorry, Mom

Rapunzel was mine until I read the original story before it was toned down for school children. It is quite a gory and sad tale in its original form!

Loved the original version of "The little Mermaid" where she doesn't get her man and turns into seafoam. It had a really strong message that you may give up everything for love, but nothing is set in stone and you don't always get what you want.
It was poetic and beautiful - we PC everything too much these days - children are not stupid and can understand complex stories and emotions.
