its a travel mate 2420 intel celeron m, less than a year old, but i would like another model, i was actually talking about exchanging this and paying some additional sum of money for a new one. possible?

How, upgrade? If you need more ram, buy some. There's a flap on the bottom of the laptop, and if you open it, there's the ram. It's easy to exchange. But I really don't know how to upgrade a CPU, otherwise I had done it with my bloody lame stone age pc :-)

Upgrade in what way ? Do you mean Vista or new graphics,sound or RAM. You don't say which model, whether it is dual core centrino, or athlon in fact, you say nothing . the only reason I'm answering is because I got an aspire 1650 and also I get 2 points

I don't know anywere that would do part exchanges for laptops. Your best bet would be to sell the one you have and get a new one.
