The goal in algebra is to get the variable you are solving for alone.

Remember, if you do something to one side of the equation, you have to do it to the other, as well.

So,

1. If you subtract 3 from each side, you will have b alone.

2. Same thing - subtract 2 from each side and you will have f alone.

3. u is multiplied by -24. So to get it alone, you have to divide each side by -24.

Hope this helps!

GY's way is correct, I have more, and it should be correct:

1. Transfer 3 to the right side, this will be -3. Thus, b = 9 - 3 = 6

2. Transfer 2 to the right side, this will be -2. Thus, f = -4 - 2 = -6

3. -24u / -24 = -4
u = -4

-1) b+3=9
here u should find the value of "b". for that you have to subtract 3 from both the sides, bcos in these types of al. equations if you do something for one side the samething should be done to the other side as well.so the next step will be,
b+3-3=9-3
when number 3 si gone from both sides, b is alone on the left and 6 is left on the right.
so the answer is,
b = 6

2) f+2=-4
this is same as the 1st one. To find the value of f you should get rid of 2.so the next step is,
f+2-2=-4-2
this is a little bit different cos number 4 on you right is "-". so -2 should be added to -4.so the next step will be as follows,
f =-6
the answer is,
f=-6

3) -24u=-4
here you should devide both sides by -24. cos its the only way to make "u" alone on the left. so the answer is,
u=-4/-24
u=1/6
(wen u devide a minus digit by a another minus digit the answer will be a + digit.

that's it!!

1. b = 6, b = 9 - 3 ( bring the 3 across by subtracting it to 9)
2. f = -6; f = -4 - 2 (bring the 2 across by subtracting it to -4)
3. u = 1/6; u = -4 / -24u ( negative over a negative equals a positive) (bring the -24 across by deviding the -4 by -24)

Hope this helps!

1. b=9-3 => b=6
2. f=-4-2 => f=-6
3. -24u=-4 => u=-4/-24 => u=1/6

b+3=9 The textbook way is to make it so you have the variable (b) on one side, and the number value on the other, so in this instance you would subtract 3 from the left, and subtract 3 from the right, it would then look like this.
b=6 And that is your answer :)
f+2=-4 In this one you would do the same steps meaning you would subtract 2 from each side giving you
f=-6 there is your answer:)
-24u=-4 is a little trickier, but not much. with this you would have to divide both sides by -24, i don't feel like finishing this one, too much work hope this helps

ok the perfect component to do is sq. each and each and every side... (x^2 -4)^2 =x+4 then get rid of the brackets to get x^4 -8x^2 +16=x+4 then assemble all words on a million side to get x^4 - 8x^2 -x +12=0 then be certain that quartic to get x= -a million.30278, x=2.30278, x= -a million.56156 and x=2.56156
