Not that I know of. It is fought in many high school courses (think when did you first encounter it). Actually, an early resolution of computer monitors was 320 x 200, which yields a ratio 8 : 5, which is the fifth convergent of the continued fraction expansion of phi:

phi = [1, 1, 1, ... ]

It is one of the best ways to approximate the golden ratio with a video memory of 64 KB.
