When you went to Dr for a pregnancy test i would imagine he/she asked when you had last period, this gives them approx 2 weeks scope and the date actually given is a rough idea of conception. I was 2 weeks over with both of mine and was induced with both and had 2 c sections.

I think it is something like 2% of babies are born on due date.
Most 1st babies are overdue. If you are in the UK, they don't like you to go more than 14 days overdue and will induce you on day 14 (2 weeks). They will have you go to hospital for a inducement review on Day 12, and tell you when to come in on Day 14.
If you want to avoid being induced
*get out on long walks!
*When overdue ask midwife to give you a "Sweep" to see if you are dialated (this can set things off)
I am talking from experience- I was due 22nd November and my daughter was born 6th December. They turn up when they want!
Good Luck

They generally won't let you go more than 10 days after your due date. Saying that, my daughter was 7 days late (she didn't want to come out and still is like my little shadow!) and I was booked in for inducement after the weekend (she was born on a Friday). Your baby will come when he or she is ready to come and I'm afraid there's not much you can do about it, apart from rest as much as you can and gather your strength. If you're concerned, call your midwife and ask her - she will be able to reassure you and answer your concerns. Best of luck!

Slim. Due dates are just an estimate and it's just pure luck if a baby is born on the date you were given. There is a window of what is full term and once you go over that, then they will talk about induction most likely after 41 weeks.

Very unlikely, I have three first was 4 weeks early (a bit of a shock) the second 3 weeks and the third was only 5 days early which to me felt like she was late.
The doctors will look to induce within bein two weeks late, if by your 40 week appointment you become very uncomfortable discuss it to be done earlier rather than later.

There's about a 5% chance of your baby being born on that date.
They will monitor you carefully once you go over your due date, but it's usually about 10 days before they induce.
