Rio Madeira has started a petition to Yahoo Answers to help stop the repeated question of why is there no mens studies area in Yahoo Answers.

Do something constructive. If you are sick of the men being here because it says Womens Studies, if you are sick of the inequality of women having their wee niche and men having nowhere or if you just feel like being a bit of an activist for the day, click the link and sign the petition. We can see if 'the masses' actually have any power or not.

Lets get Womens Studies changed to Gender Studies and see if we can get some informative, interesting and gender encompassing discussion and debate going.

Click the link and add a name- http://www.petitiononline.com/rm112289/petition.html

Oh and, if not, why not?

Karma.

Rio Madeira did the hard work I'm lobbying on her behalf I guess, lol.

EXACTLY FLoop, thats why Gender Studies would be perfect, somewhere that we can all play together!

EFHN E Thank you. I hate to see people kicked around also and if you are looking for rights to protect I'd look in the direction of men as well as women these days.

First of all let me say thank you for responding to my question about if you are in support of feminism or not, I am not familiar with the humanist movement but I will look into it. I am familiar with the women who are involved in the feminist movement who have skewed it from it's original goal, equal rights. However most feminist I have encountered seem very nice, this puts me under the belief that it is a small group of women who have swayed the original goal which in turn makes the whole movement look bunk. Christina Hoff Sommers did a book on this.

I signed your petition and I do agree with you, equal is essential if the human race is to survive, what ever race, sex, religion or otherwise.

Thank you for your help, when I meet human beings such as your self it reminds me why life is worth living.

On the funny side of things, all the disapproval I got for my question seemed to come from men who have the impression I am a women, I'm not, Just can't stand seeing people kicked around.

Any form of sex descrimination is wrong.

Thankyou for your efforts regarding this petition.

I personally see no problem at all with minority or historically oppressed/marginalized groups having their own forum. But watch out, nice guys now have their own forum (although not on answers.yahoo.com) & we're ready to expose the self-serving, complacent nature of most (but certainly not all) women, especially women who call themselves "feminist."

No, I don't believe that "gender studies" is appropriate. Women deserve to have their own forum.
