Hya mate, I am from Liverpool and all of the above statements are true about why we will not buy the Sun newspaper. For those who were unaware that it was still a cardinal sin to buy this shi,te here - the older generations are passing it down to the younger. I was just going into my teens when the disaster happened and I can remember the slurs written buy this paper and I can remember them printing that the Liverpool fans were pi.ssing on those that were dead, robbing wallets etc - Imagine how the families here felt when they read these horrid stories. Might I add that no-one ever believed this crap who was from Liverpool or had known scousers.
The bastard who wrote the LIES still won't fully admit he was wrong. All I can say is SHI.T BAG
So, The sun will never redeem itself in Liverpool as the older generation will not allow it - I have never purchased this paper and would not even wipe my **** with it (excuse my language)
I must apologise to you though if you have been verbally abused for the paper you read. - the wounds are still wide open here my friend

The Sun were involved in the UK's most despicable tabloid accusations when they accused Liverpool Fans of causing the Hillsborough football Disaster. The accusations at the time caused Merseyside to turn on the newspaper; sales fell dramatically throughout Merseyside, with many shops refusing to sell the paper. Unfortunately it is now openly being sold again, although we may see a further decline in the papers fortunes as the coming year brings the Sun into conflict with various Unions who are planning to get more militant. The continuing ban in Knowsley's and Merseyside's Libraries, colleges and schools may well be extended to Millions of trade Unionists if moves are made to make the Sun a political issue once again. There are still enough people on Merseyside just itching for a chance to have a go at Murdoch.

The Hillsborough stadium tragedy received a lot of media attention, but rather than focusing on the cause, personal stories and facts, the SUN newspaper ran a story that Liverpool fans had robbed some of the dead and injured fans. This was proven to be untrue and completely false accusation, in fact the police at the scene praised all the fans for their efforts to save those trapped and injured, but the Sun ran it under the headline "Scum" etc. This provoked (understandably) a great deal of anger in Liverpool and the Sun was publicly burnt etc and sales plummeted. I didn't know that this was stiill a source of friction over there, but I can completely sympathise with it.

because they printed a paper after the hillsbourgh disaster and the headline was "the truth" it slated liverpudlians for stealing off fans that were injured on the floor that terrible day, it still to this day affects the sales there, they used to sell about 200,000 a day now its still only about 12.000, this is also the reason wanye rooney got a bad reception from them, because he betrayed liverpool byselling his story to the sun when he moved to man u! the sun have a apoligised many times, but they see this as more of insult, and to be honest i agree with them

Apparently Murdoch has lost in the region of £40 million in advertising revenue since the time The Sun went about reporting their "truth". Lost £40 million due to the near non-existant sales in Liverpool region.
I don't trust The Sun either. Grubby hacks. Its a paper where they shout out what it right and wrong and do the thinking for you. Other newspapers give you information and details and allow you to use your brain to draw conclusions.

They hate the Sun newspaper because they accused the Liverpool Supporters of being drunk on the day of the Hillsbourgh tragdey. They called them scum. I used to buy the Sun newspaper until that day now I would never buy it again.

No we haven't, and we never will. Unlike the BBC who seem to role out liar and former editor of the Sun Kelvin McKenzie as the voice of moral reasoning whenever there is a rent a quote needed these days. You would have to have a heart of stone not to laugh, but even I find that beyond funny.
