You have several options: a hole punch, an awl, and yes a drill. Remember to treat the leather, this way it will readjust to new change that has been placed upon it. Most belts that are made in the factory have already done the testing, and know how many holes and stress for the length of leather that is used.

punch a hole through with a hammer and nail if you dont want to buy a hole punch.
if the belt is splitting then i doubt it is made of leather and will need heat to help seal the hole when you punch through.

I quite have quite completed this, in spite of the shown fact that it sounds strange. Use a knife and twist it into the leather-based so it starts off to make a hollow and then do the sane factor on the opposite area. once you have made a deep sufficient hollow, use the metallic portion of the belt to punch with the aid of.

This sounds cheap but hey it works when I'm in a hurry I use the sharp end of the cutting knife or a nail using the hammer or take it to the place where they fix shoes and the'll fix it for u.

You might be best taking it to a leather specialist and let them do it. i would expect that a drill might split and ruin the belt completely. good luck with it x

Use an awl, a tool specifically designed for that purpose.
A power drill will probably make it split worse.

I have done this before too...I found that if you heat the end of a thin screwdriver and then gently push it through it works.Be VERY careful though....Put the screwdriver into a bowl of cold water straight after.

go to a saddlery and buy a hole punch. Or have the saddle maker fix it for you.
