This is for several reasons but mainly I need to be able to forget my love for a girl while continuing to be a good friend to her. It is also to stop being so emo about everything.

perhaps you just have to learn to adapt and accept the given situation. sometimes, no matter how emo you feel about a particualr situation, your emotions really couldn't do anything about it. it's up to you to make a step. your emotions aren't supposed to control you. convince yourself that you are a storng person who could get by the challenges laid out before you even if you aren't perfect.

in burying emotions, try considering how it would help you and perhaps someone else. sometimes, a good form of motivation is simply what you need. when you feel like being emo about the circumstance, consider the consequences that your emotions might give you. then, decide whether the situation is really worth feeling that way.

sometimes, it also helps to try to change your point of view. instead of viewing the matter as something against you, try to look at the positive points. try to find a different way of looking at things. example, a certain group of people don't want to accept you into their circle. instead of considering it as a huge point against you, you could think that maybe the spot wasn't meant for you because there's something better out there.

remember, it takes a lot to bury your emotions. you got to swallow your pride and let your compassion for others guide you. however, too much "burying" isn't good for you either. it isn't bad to open up. just be careful what you say/do when you say/do it.

First, it takes time to change as deep a feelings as it sounds like you've had for your GF. Secondly, why do you have to continue as her friend? If it's because you want to and not HAVE to then I suggest a period of separation. If you give yourself a long period of time apart, it will help you in making the needed adjustments. I'm talking years here, not weeks. The alternative is to "pine" after her until your feelings change naturally, or until you find the next love. Which is my final thought, one good way to get over one love is to invest time in searching for the next Ms. Right. Don't forget what you learned from this Ms. Right, or you'll be doomed to repeat those mistakes with this one (it's called growth).

Good Luck!

P.S. Burying emotions isn't the answer - dealing with them is. That's the motivationbehind my answer above.
