Check for the Audio Properties-Check whether it is on Mute.
If not
Check for the Audio Cables, It should be Intact,
If okay
Check for Ur speakers- Check by connecting Ur Speakers to any other source of sound as the Jack is normally the same as u have with Walkmans.
If Okay
Now check for the Software working properly-
Hoping it to be Okay as ur Video is playing.
If
Above all things are okay the problem is with your audio hardware. (Audio Card)
If u can, Unplug it from the slot and re enter and try, At most times it works.
If still not working
Take ur system to a service engineer.

u need to check the plugin on the back side of ur cpu or check the drive , may be it's not rpoperly installed.
