I have never lived in London, but I think Liverpool is a much more relaxed place to live than London.
I don't know what you mean by London life being 'hard', but for a start commuting in Liverpool is much easier. I work 6 miles from my work place, having to commute from north Liverpool to south Liverpool, and that takes me about 20-25 mins during rush hour.
Yes Liverpool has its problems like any other city, but Liverpool has a wealth of architecture and cultural heritage that is hard to beat.
There was a relatively fair article in yesterdays Observer which showed the good and bad of Liverpool.

Well, its a big city, and loads good jobs, but smaller city than London, less rents than London, excellent standard of living, lots lovely places to go, very laid back, like a good laugh, good nice people, very little trouble, excellent for shops and bars. Excellent cultural city, superb resteraunts, famous landmarks, cathedrals, waterfont, river ferries, airport, too much too mention. Or you could stay in London and pay through the nose for everything we have in Liverpool. (ok there r bad bits, but u dont have to go there, as with everywhere, u get bad bits)

I've lived in both places and I found Liverpool was a much easier place to live as the people were much friendlier than Londoners who seem to be obsessed with status and trivia. They are the most snotty people I've ever met, and I was born and raised there. I couldn't wait to escape. Even with my London accent I found every scouser I met welcoming.

I live in the City Centre and quite simply put Liverpool is an amazing place to live. One of my best friends is from London and he loves living here.
Liverpool has something for everyone, and with the Capital of culture bid being successful the regeneration of the city bodes well.

Like any big city, Liverpool has its good points and its bad points. However, I think you'll find the people there to be very friendly and welcoming. It's not as expensive as London, it has some beautiful areas and wonderful culture. Give it a go, you'd be very welcome!

I lived there for 4 years and loved every minute of it - fun, vibrant, stylish city (the girls are always immaculate, not a shell suit in sight)
The city is being re-generated for the capital of culture in 2008 so there is so much more happening - the shops, hotels etc are all great
People are friendly, very funny and would do anything for you
I say pack your bags and move now!
