in this day and age there is no possible reason to use anything but a star topology in a corporate LAN environment

network failure is all but eliminated by using a central node (switch)
a cable failure to a node will only effect that node
good to excellent performance depending on the equipment used

a good thing to remember is star for LAN and mesh for WAN

Dear Friend,
The best is to use two 24-port switches to connect all the computers and route both the switches. Using the Star, Ring and Mesh are not advisable due to their high cost and their less reliabilty.I am just 13 and a RHCE. Contact : kumaran.radhakrishnan@yahoo.co.in.
Thank You

Sounds like a homework question to me. This is no longer a practical networking question as the only technology in use in a computer lab anymore is switched Ethernet (10/100/1000BT).
