i always thought that maybe when make up was invented, guys were just too lazy to wear it then... and now they just dont wear it... well if they do they get called emo or goth wannabe... anyway... why don't they wear it???

Cultural norms have it that girls be feminine. Have you ever noticed how effeminate a guy looks with makeup? For example, Billy Zane has worn black eyeliner in movies, male figure skaters wear shine control and even lip tint. It adds a more feminine appearance. Guys are valued aesthetically for their more prominent cranial arch, square jaw, etc, all traits considered to be masculine. Women have softer jaw lines, a less prominant craneal arch, and makeup is merely to enhance their more delicate features. These gender preferences are hardwired into our biology, and anything that makes a guy efeminate is unappealing to the majority.

Guys dont wear it becuase they have a good self-esteem. ((they only wear it if they are goth, emo, alternative punk, ect... but only eyeliner))
Girls wear make-up to
1. Get noticed by a boy
2. Fit in with a clique
3. Make them selves look "pretty"
4. They feel like they HAVE to because they are a girl.

Makeup is used to cover up flaws or enhance particular features. Lets say a guy has a big red pimple on his nose, but since guys can't wear make up he can't cover it up while girls can. I don't know why girls would want to wear foundation everyday if their complexion isn't bad. But mascara and lipgloss is enough for me.

Because it was invented for women, and is a product for women... Most men don't really get into wearing womens things... right down to makeup. I'm thankful for that.

Men used to wear make-up back in the time of the French court of Louis XIV. Both men and women wore powdered wigs also. Men are quite lucky that they don't have to take the time and bother to wear makeup. Don't you think?

but they do.. dont you watch the news or weather or movies ..men all have makeup on and they even make a makeup for guys. its just not advertised like womens because women make up almost 90 percent of the buying power in the world

Because girls feel like they need to to attract the opposite sex. I'm not one of these girls btw. And i'm guessing there are guys out there that do wear make-up they just don't go around advertising it, it makes em feel sexy, grrrrr lol.
