Well, for my communication studies coursework, I am doing it on communication in football.
I was wondering if anyone knows specific types of hand gestures that players and managers use, things they say, thast sort of thing.
I would use my own experiences with my team as an example but we are so rubbish, the only communication that comes from us is moaning at eachother!!!
Help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

When you see a manager pushing imaginary air its so that his back line push forward to create an offide trap to catch the opposing attacker. You got the rolly polly sorta thing which is a substitution. When managers hold 2 fingers out or similar theyre arranging those two players into a position. If/when a player could/can be considered to be committing a foul of some sort, they raise a hand to protest their innocence.

Things they say in football are like: 1-2, through ball, etc if thats what you mean (pointing to where they want the ball too)?

well when the manger keep his hand in the air with the in side down he mean in some team slow the pace of the game and came down guys, when he rotate his finger he mean put pressure every time you get the ball it he point down at the middle of the pitch it means he went a lot of maild Field action, when players i injured they give certain hand gesture if they can't continue or if they can, remember zizou give it and Henry give it too he was hurt, like the others said it's varies among team.

Football communication depends on what coaches agreed with their team. They discuss it and agreed on the meaning of their gestures. These gesture might be the same with teams, but varies in meaning.

There are only two that I know of. Extend the middle finger and index finger keeping the others clenched into a fist. The other is easier. Make a fist and shake it up and down

the most basic is taking a corner.
right hand up front post
left hand up back post
both hands up high and into the mixer
you can more or less make them up as you go along use your imagination.
