No. One of the important functions of a school is to teach children that they are part of society and, that even though they can be unique within the group, there are still rules to follow.

Allow individual expression? Absolutely yes. Youth and adolescence are the most formative time in discovering your individual identity. It's critical that kids learn how to balance that expression against necessary social conformity. The concept of society is basically that yes, you can be an individual to a certain degree, but you have to work within a social order - established by rules and laws.
Eliminate school rules? Absolutely not. Such rules teach kids that there are in fact absolute boundaries necessary to internalize in order to function well in society. If rules were abolished and conformity unlearned, anarchy would result eventually.
People who can't conform with the most basic rules of society end up warehoused in prison, where, ironically, there are even more stringent rules in place.
The needs of society are greater than the needs of the individual, that's just the way it is. There isn't an anarchical place for an individualist to go and live in their own way...there are just too many people and not enough desert islands. And if you still don't believe the first sentence of this paragraph, consider the extreme of capital punishment, where the individual is simply eliminated for the sake of society.

Thats like saying should we eliminate rules in sports in order to allow individuals unique expression. Rules make life fun. To eliminate them would ruin the order and pattern we have that makes life more interesting. What would happen if we eliminated driving rules so people could express themselves freely on the highway? That's what would happen if we eliminated rules at school and at work. People have to find other ways to creatively express their individuality. Highways, sports , work and school aren't acceptable.
No, we shouldn't eliminate rules to allow individual unique expression in school anymore than we should eliminate traffic rules.

Yes it should be allow under the first amendment which give freedom of speech and the right to practice our religion. Also in the letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote about separation of church and state. He said flat out that it was not to keep the church out of the state but the state of the church. Funny how people do not know that I am not a Christian but I am a firm believer in tolerance and I think we should tolerate christians too P.S. It was probably not a kid that wrote that. It was probably an adult and then said a kid that wrote it

Absolutely....and I would like to express myself uniquely by taking everyone's lunch money.....witout rules I can easily get away with it by beating up the weakest class mate publically and making an example so the suckers will give it up......this can be expanded so that I can offer protection for a fee...making sure that you get to keep some of your lunch money....again..making an example of anyone who objects....if we take this to the logical end....we can terrorize the staff at the school....maybe leverage them for a portion of their salary.......nope....I guess we need rules after all

In the US uniqueness is frowned upon. Everyone should just be the same carbon copy. Language sanitized, Identity erased. You should just be classifiable by the identity of your group. ie SUV v's Green, dem v's rep, or pro v's con Bush.
