i am traceing history of Subedar Major? Thamman singh who was in army 1850-1890 and was awarded some medel for valour .

Well, I think it might be a little work, but you could contact the British Library: they have a public records for the India Office.

You might be able to look up the type of medal given to this fellow at:

Although this site regularly has problems, and you would have to be more specific about dates, I think.

You could also contact the East India Company, although they don't operate in the same way, they still do exist:
