You've got the 4.0 down but as the the med school requirement, well there is none.
Med schools, law schools, most professional and graduate programs in the US don't set hard minimums for admissions. They look at a combination of GPA, Test Scores, Essays, Recomendations, et cetra. I don't know if you're in High School or college, but Med School in the US requires a 4-year degree first. (I know you all do a four year degree for law and we do it as graduate work.)
The school is going to look at your GPA as a whole, but they're going to focus on your hard science and math grades. Although it helps if you did well in English and history, they're usually more willing to forgive that C- in Mid 19th century women's lit than they will be to forgive it in Organic. You'll also have to take the MCAT which is a standardized test designed for Medical School.
If you're coming from an Australian undergrad with a different GPA system they'll probably have some way to weigh your grades accordingly (some US schools use a percent scale so if you have a 6.0 and you know that's a 91% that'd help too). You'll also have a bit of an advantage in the "diversity" factor. Foreign applicants tend to be a bit more rare and it's nice to have them around, provided you pay for it.
Anyway, best of luck to you.

Standard GPA requirement for graduate school is around 3.0 or 3.5. Sometimes the GPA is out of 4.0 and sometimes it's out of 4.5 (depending on if they have A/A+ or just A)

4. Generally, it corresponds to 4=A, 3=B, 2=C, 1=D, 0=F. (Honors classes and advanced placement classes are sometimes weighted higher, so sometimes an overachieving student can have a GPA in excess of 4.0. Kinda rare, though.) And as far as I know, you need a GPA of at least 3.5.

I don't know the GPA required for someone wanting to go into medicine but I would say it's probably at least 3.5. You can find that out by asking any doctor.

It's out of 4.
Every medical school has its own requirements. You better see their website.
