I believe that is exactly what it is. I think it;s getting out of control. I am not a racist by any means, but it seems to me that the traditional blonde blue-eyed ideal is gone. White will no longer be the predominent race by 2020. It;s just the way it is I suppose like it or not.

Many people don't understand the term "the Melting Pot" as applied to America. It doesn't mean that there are lots of different races and cultures in America. It means the opposite: when different races and cultures arrive in America, they quickly adopt America's culture and forget their own. This usually happens within a generation. The parents may be able to speak Italian or Spanish or Polish, but the children will grow up speaking American English and be the same as everybody else. That certainly seems to be still true of America.

Venice Girl and Gnomom both have good points. Don't confuse the word "race" (which is a vague word with no real agreement about its meaning) with the concepts of ethnicity and culture and nationality.
And maybe instead of thinking about a melting pot where every thing becomes one, you think more in terms of a stew -- where all the ingredients exist distinctly and yet work together to produce a special flavor.

I don't worry about America being the melting pot of race.... However I do think, in regards to the gene pool, we need to add a pool skimmer, some chlorine and then shock it.

It's so easy for those of us who already managed to get in to say it's time to close the door. What if the door had been closed just before your ancestors decided they wanted to walk through? You would be one of those disgusting foreigners that the people who managed to get through would be telling to get out. NONE of us on this continent, except for American Indians, naturally belong here. This country was founded on the idea that it would be a place where "your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse, the homeless, the tempest-tossed" would be welcome. If you want to be truly patriotic, live up to our original heritage and promise to the world.

I think it's great. If we all wind up pretty much a homogenous tribe when all is said and done, (and loved up), then maybe we'll finally stop slaughtering each other as "the others".
Anyhow, with the ozone layer depletion, we can use all the melanin we can get!

I like it. I think if we want to truly be "one nation under God", we are taking the right step in that area....in others, I'm not quite sure, but hey....on the other hand...I DO believe that if you come to my country to live, you better be able to speak English. I refuse to deal with "press 2 for Spanish"....or have to order my food in spanish/ Shout my order ten times before the person on the other end gets it right.

thats what originally made our country great. but human nature of everyone beleving they are the dominant will always come up and kick us in the nuts. there are funds for minorities, but if we were to manage all of those monies for everyone with an ssn#. we could prob have free health care. but we choose to seperate ourselves with such titles such as african american, or native american. insted of just proud american.
