I can tell what I have gone through in the past 6 years. I have Endometriosis, and I also have two children. Even though I have always wanted a 3rd child because of my condition I have asked my doctors for a hysterectomy. But I have been told by the 5 doctors that I have seen and still see that unless they can prove it is a life threating condition they won't be able to get my insurance to cover it. And being a single mom now I am not able to afford to pay for it myself. I have also seen doctors in St. Louis, MO and in Chicago, IL and I get the same answer about a hyst. So it has left me no choice other then being on alot of pain medication and heating pads.
I know this probably isn't what you wanted to hear. But good luck. You might be able to talk to your doctor about your condition and they might be able to do it, I think it also depends on the insurance.

Don't use any excuse. Just tell the doctor in your own words as you have here. Doctors do not like to put the patient into surgical menopause, and a hysterectomy would do just that. And the doctor must take into consideration that you would lose bone density also after the operation.
Periods too close together is not a good reason for such an operation.
Also the doctor must consider the possibility that you would be trading the pain of monthly periods for menopause, which can
produce it's own changes in the body.
If you have CFS along with the fibromyalgia, CFS does seem to cause more menstraul bleeding irregularities.
You best course of action is to present yourself and your request to a really good doctor. If the fibromyalgia is causing cronic pelvic pain your request for the operation might be considered.

I know just how you feel. I have fibromyalgia going on two years now. I pray everyday for a cure. Don't do anything permanent! Someday soon they may find a cure. Hope is the only thing that keeps me going. As for the painful periods, I became allergic to all femine hygiene products. I searched on the internet and found several sites where women claim that the manufacturers put chemicals in the pads and tampons that make you bleed more and give you a fishy odor so that you can buy more products and sprays to make them rich. Then they provided links to sites that show you how to make your own cotton pads, and how to clean them properly.
I made my own pads and what they say is true! You do not smell bad when wearing cotton homemade pads, you bleed less, and I now have no more painful periods. Plus you save hundreds of dollars a year by using your pads over. There are also sites that sell them if you are not a sewer.
Try this before the hysterectomy. I know how desperate you feel.
My doctor has me on Ultram 3 times a day and I can function if I don't do too much.
Best wishes, I'll pray for you.

I am going through exactly the same thing as you. I'm the same age & I have CFS/FM.
My cycle has gone crazy & I have terrible periods that are sometimes only 19 days apart.
The pain has been almost unbearable since I have been really ill. If thats not bad enough it is aery heavy bleeding also.
I have discussed this with my GP & she doesn't know what to suggest. I am having an ultrasound as soon as I am well enough to check for fibroids as older women are more susceptible to them.
It is not easy to get a hysterectomy performed but I'm sure if you find the right Dr you may have a chance.
It's quite a big procedure so you would have to put in to consideration how the anaesthetic would affect your condition & recovery from it & the actual operation.
I wish you well & believe me I understand Sista xxx

Presuming you're within the UK? You may not get it performed at the NHS however should you desired to pay privately I'm definite you would get the operation performed, cash buys the whole thing. However you're nonetheless really younger and whilst you suppose you already know what you desire now in 10 years time you could difference your brain and it's going to be too past due. It maybe nice to have Mirena coil geared up which controls/stops intervals and a tubal ligation utilizing the clip approach possibly, that method a minimum of it may be taken off should you did ever difference your brain. Our minds are unusual matters, you could get to the age of 36 meet a splendid man and all of a sudden have a longing to have a baby of your possess, it occurs.

Remember that a hysterectomy is a major surgery and has all the risks of a major surgery...infection, bleeding & blood transfusions, damage to the bowel, bladder, anesthesia risks, etc...
Anyway, convincing the doctor...
Tell the doctor that you are bleeding really heavily, where you leak through your pads and tampons in 30-60 mins or have to wear diapers at night to control the flow.
Tell the doctor you are having so much pain that you are out of work several days each month because of the pain, and that you have severe pains for days each month.
Tell the doctor this has been going on for years and you can't bear to live with it any more.
I hope you are making the right decision...

Most doctor will not give you a hysterectomy without a medical reason. If you really don't want kids and are afraid of getting pregnant then ask them to tie your tubes. I am sure with you age no doctor will say no plus you are so close to menopause that it would be crazy to have a hysterectomy now. I would go and see about the tubal instead of the hysterectomy. Believe me when I say that a hysterectomy causes new problems that you really don't want to deal with. Good luck

I promise you a hysterectomy is alot more painful than periods unless you are doubled up in a ball for days every month. Not to mention the risks of general anesthesia and risk of cancer from the hormone replacements. Also, the hormone replacements have alot of side effects.
Your periods seem relatively regular to me.

If you were to talk to your doctor and tell him/her what you have written here I think you will find them amenable to helping you get a hysterectomy.
They would discuss with you the risks and benefits, but I think you make a clear case that the benefits far outweigh the risks.
