Is there any criminal charges that will hold you back from getting a passport?

no you can't get a passport when you're on probation. not sure what charges hold you back from obtaining a passport, but absulutely you cannot get a passport. you can't even leave the state in which you live without prior authorization from your probation officer. my husband is in school for criminal justice and that's how i know. hope that answered your question.

A person on probation can get a passport because he is not incarcerated in a prison.

Depends on what the reason of probation is. Felonies....No....Misdemeanors maybe. Ask the P.O. about that.

Uh, okay, the first requirement of probation is that you remain in the area...... of course they wouldn't give you one.....

No, you can still get one, and your traveling priveledge is not restrainted by your own government. However it is up to the country that your traveling to whether or not they will let you in.
