Hmmm..some suggestions....

1. Try to see if you can open and view the contents of several different DVD discs in that drive...Put in a disc and go the drive letter in "My Computer" and right-click it and say "Explore"...if it opens the drive and you see the contents of the disc then this says something to me...it says that your dvd player is fine and it is your Windows cd/dvd setup that is corrupt...which is simple to fix

2. If #1 results in no displayable content for multiple discs then this says that your player might be damaged...but HOLD UP it just might be your cables are loose internally...if you are comfortable opening your PC (and its not hard or dangerous) then open it up and make sure the cable is plugged in firmly....

3. Its possible you have some loose paper floating around inside the player..open and see about cleaning the the tray as well as the lens (with rubbing alcohol)..

Enjoy

Sometimes, dvds aren't read coz they are dirty or coz the rom has acquired dirt and dust that cover the lens and prevent it from correctly doing its job...

In this case, kindly shop for a cd cleaner and at the same time a dvd-rom cleaner (available in my country [PH] for less than a 3 bucks) which I believe are available at hardware stores, computer stores, or even the appliance stores....

If this hasn't worked, by all means try to update your driver and or bring it to a service tech to check if there has been a malfunction...

Thanks!

Try burning the dvd's first. I'd suggesting using a standard kitchen toaster.

Maybe you should clean it or ask a technician instead.
