Someone once said that luck is the residue of design.
All games are won or lost because of a combination of what one teams accomplishments and the other teams mistakes.
When opportunity knocks , the great teams don't merely answer it , they kick down the door and take what they honestly believe is theirs. The bad teams don't and call it bad luck.
The Patriots win because they play extremely well as a team. Their entire philosophy is that the accomplishments of the team are more important than the accomplishments of the individual player. They choose players that buy into that philosophy. Players that don't buy into that idea are either not chosen or let go.
That is by design ,not luck
Tom Brady is a great quarterback because of the system he plays in. Joe Montana was a great quarterback for the same reason.
That is by design , not luck
Football is not figure skating or gymnastics. There are no style points awarded. The only numbers that really matter are the numbers that say that your team scored more points than the other team did.
So for the next week we are going to have to listen to nonsense about how great P. Manning is because he generates all these gaudy numbers and then T.Brady and Co. are going to play as a team once again and Manning will be home watching the Patriots - Saints SuperBowl on his bigscreen HD TV- once again

first off what you know about football is very sad. the patriots have won 3 superbowls by 9 points or did you forget about the rams game? The tuck rule was correct so the call was proper and that is not luck. They are probably the best 4th quarter team in the history of football. Not to mention they are doing all this with having no huge name receiver such as mannings harrison and wayne. there is troy brown, who is a good receiver but not the caliber as the harrison. The running game for the patriots has been outstanding and brady always does what he needs to for the W in the end. Yes the cowboys were blowing teams out but the whole game has changed since then, the men are bigger, faster, and stronger. look at the vick, mcnabb, young's of the league, the speed is the way of the future and with this whole dynasty thing, the patriots picked up the W because their heart is in to win.

Sometime luck is better than talent. Last year the best team was the Colts but they had no luck, no FG kicker. What if Big Ben didn't make that tackle after Bettis fumbled? Would Cowher still be coaching now? Would Bettis have played another year?
NE was lucky yesterday. A bum unsportsmanlike penalty and the rest is history.
Luck is better than talent. Didn't the Colts get lucky Saturday? What if Ray Lewis didn't tip those two passes?

There run at being a dynasty are over. 3 Super Bowls in 4 years are good but the one they lost after going 18-0, hurt them really bad & even if they did win next year's Super Bowl, that will be 4 in 8 years which won't match the Steelers 4 titles in 6 years but don't think they even make it to the Super Bowl

yes they won 3 rings in 4 years the year they didn't win they couldn't even make the playoffs all 3 super bowl wins by 3 points and they want to compare themselves to the 'boys of the '90's when they dominated teams especially in the super bowl and look who they beat in the nfc championship games the 49ers and packers in jimmy johnson wasn't fired they would've won 3 in a row I GUARANTEE IT they would've probably won about 5 titles that decade when there first title happened in '92 that's 5 in 8 yrs and the refs won the them the first one if that game was in oakland there is no tuck rule

Actually yes! but sometimes LUCK is more important than skills. Not only in playoffs, they won their SBs by a field goal (Panthers and Eagles). Though, you need to have a good team in order to take advantage of that luck too.

Like Shannon Sharpe keeps saying, "Winners win and losers lose!"
Yeah, they're lucky sometimes. So were the 90s Cowboys. But they stick around long enough to be able to take advantage of that good luck, and winners come out on top!

Give me a break. Sounds like another sore loser to me. The Pats win because they are winners, not because they are lucky. The only team that got luck today was the Chargers. Gates obviously fumbled and if they had called it correctly the Pats wouldn't have needed a miraculous victory.
You got one thing right. They are a dynasty. Ha ha...
The saddest thing was the MVP crying at the end...

I wont say their lucky their just that damn good. My Ravens lost, and I wanted the Charges to lose. But I don't know if the Pats can beat the Colts.
