What did Plato Actually Write About Atlantis? Looks Like Most Things Are the Result of Projection.

Some schools of thought claim that Atlantis was in the Mediterranean.With the catastrophic eruption of a volcano, all traces of advanced civilisation were destroyed.This could have been the destruction of Minoan or Mycenaean cultures.For such advanced peoples their sudden abrupt decline and ceasing of trade is cause for wonder.
I disagree with therories that Atlantis was located in the Bermuda triangle.

'The Isle of Atlantis' has been placed 'beyond the pillars of Hercules according to Plato. Since Plato wrote most of what we now have access to as far as the history of the Atlanteans we have to go on what he wrote.

Although many people have forwarded ideas about the actual location there is one area in the Aegean Sea that just might be the real Atlantis.

The Island of Santorini was in reality a dormant volcano. When it blew 3700 years ago 50% of the island went up with it. The remaining pieces however have two interesting towns that boasted hot and cold running water 3000 years ago and working toilets. these two towns are buried in lava and ash.... and they will be digging this up for years to come.

Troy was a myth until Heinrich Schliemann found it 100 years ago, and with all probability Atlantis (or at least the island culture that spawned the myth) will eventually be found as well. The early Minoan civilization was also unheard of until it was rediscovered. The destruction of Atlantis and the very real destruction of Santorini are probably linked, and the devastation that volcano wrought is definitely what destroyed the Minoans as well.
