i used to drive a truck for a living and computers and the internet never entered my life,i am now a house husband and have access to the interenet 24 hours a day.
What scares me is how many people live their life on the net, yahoo answers,runescape,warcraft,ps2 online,xbox360 online...i could go on forever.
I do admit i like playing my ps2 online, but one person on a certain game had spent 152 hours getting to a certain stage in this game!!!Is this strange to you?Do people not go out anymore?please be honest,i'm not having a go at people i'm just scared it might turn the next generation into pale, unfit social outsiders who think winning a computer game is more important than getting a social life.I hear that some people won't even stop to get something to eat and drink.

152 hours doesn't really reveal much (except that they're determined).
If it's 152 hours at an hour or two a night over three or four months, I don't think it's a problem.
If it's 152 hours at 15 hours a day over a week and a half, they have a problem - nobody's life should be so thoroughly dominated by a game. At least after the first couple of days of trying it out. ;-)

I think you'll also find that a lot of the people doing this sort of thing are the ones who would in previous generations have been sitting at home reading, or in the library, or possibly playing D&D with a small group of friends, rather than having much of a social life. In other words, they're likely the people who wouldn't have been socialising anyway; it's just that they now have a different outlet for it (and one that does provide some social contact, of a limited nature).

Yes, there have been rare cases of people refusing to stop playing games even to take care of basic needs, and one or two cases where they have died as a result. Obviously, such people do need serious help.

Hi, im Girlie, and im an internet-hollic!
i know what you mean, i was introduced to a internet game, called Counter Strike. for the last year i have been playing this game. as soon as i get in from work, untill about 11pm i am playing on this game, it sounds so sad i know, but i just love meeting new people and having a laugh, plus the thought of a girl beating a load of guys cheers me up a lot!
i have a stressfull job, and, knowing it sounds crazy, this chills me out.
it does not stop me going out, i still go out to meet my friends, just as before i started playing. and yes, i still eat and drink! the only thing that i am missing when im playing is corrie street, and to be honest, i dont really miss that!
anyway, hope this helps (or makes you more worried about people on the internet!)

I recently read an article about a guy who plays World of Warcraft for 18 hours a day, every day. It's a social problem and these people don't have the skills to relate to other humans face to face.

People are scared to go out - haven't you heard ? There's gangs of hoodies out there with carpet knifes.

I actual have had to introduce cats many a time interior the previous, so i will supply you some sturdy suggestion. generic technique for those variety of conferences is to cut up them, yet enable them to have some touch. as an occasion, positioned one in a cage, enable the different one walk around and sniff, then swap them up. yet another may be to maintain her in a room(such as you're doing) and enable them to sniff and paw from under the door. at last she would be in a position to decide to circulate walk approximately and stumble on. it might desire to take a sturdy whilst for 2 cats to alter into conscious of a minimum of one yet another. and there is not any assure that they are going to be terrific acquaintances. i've got had cats earlier that took weeks to get use to a minimum of one yet another, and that they saved fairly distant of another in to previous age. My 2 recent kittens have been offered from an analogous breeder, 3 months aside. It took them some days properly worth of hissing/pawing on the face, yet after some week, the older female replace into looking after the extra youthful kitten like her toddler. the two way, she'll come out of her "risk-free Room" at last. the final analysis is to not tension her into something. It must be sluggish. you additionally can purchase calming sprays from puppy shops which could make her extra comfortable. sturdy success!

There are lots of people who spend a vast amount of their time gaming or on the net. I know of of lots of young people doing it and it seems such a waste of a life!! Teenagers in particular seem to spend their life on msn or myspace instead of actually meeting people. Totally bonkers I say!!

Personally I think it's a new and unappreciated form of addiction that needs addressing. I find this site very addictive, but now find I can control myself by limiting the time I'm on here.
