Most of them have mental problems, and not even realize they are talking, another reason is that they are so lonely that there is no one to talk to..

I wouldn't say many, but I would say that the most noticable homeless people are those that talk to themselves. It is truly unfortunate, they can't help themselves-they are mentally ill and really need help.

Most Homeless people walk past you unnoticed. What you are noticing are mostly Schitozos who are severely mentally ill. The sad part is they are eligible for disability and many might even be on disability but don't know how to collect the checks and when they do they lose or spend it all.

Meds for Schitzofrenia have serious side effects and the paranoia aspect of the condition makes them loath to take them in the first place. This means most Schitzos spend their lives bouncing on and off meds and on and off the streets. Family systems tend to eventually tire of helping and often wind up fearing the Schitzo relitive since random acts of violence and destruction are very characteristic of the condition.

Most wind up in and out of jail as well. Often the jails do not even recognize that this person is mentally ill and they serve repeated short stints in county jails. When they are recognized as Schitzo they sit in very overcrowded institutions for 90 days or so before being maniditorially released. Often 90 days is enough to get them back on meds, collecting disability again and off to an apt or halfway house they go to start the whole cycle again.

The other "talkers" are long term alcholics suffering advanced cirosis of the liver which has addled their brains. Literally pickled the brain in wastes and booze that the liver is no longer able to remove from the blood stream. Normally these people are quite harmless but past drinking/drugging behavior has alienated them from friends and family until here they sit. They are also often eligible for disability but lack somebody to ford all the paperwork and are unlikely to stay put long enough for the long process to play out. Nor are they likely to sustain disability and such as it really requires a min level of sanity to remain on disability for insanity.

These are some of the very many people that fall through the cracks and who social systems were origionally set up to help but remain intentionally abanonded in favor of people who will vote for those who establish social programs but are in far less need of them.

Mental illness- loneliness-no self-esteem or confidence---no home--no money-no life. The list goes on and on. Think about for awhile--why exactly are they homeless? We don't really don't know do we--they do. They have nothing--zero minus--nadda. So life for them? No life at all--the way they are is what we see--is their normality to them.
