then who else was doing it. Also The africans were selling blacks to each other when we came over. All Americans did was buy something that other africans had put up for sale.

wouldnt it make more sense if blacks were to hold certain african continants that actually sold them as apossed to those that bought them? whats worse?

the seller or the buyer?

Huh?

We have been enslaving Africans since the 1700s. George Washington was a slave owner!

Africans selling slaves back and forth is immaterial, because Europeans would captialize on that by aligning with tribe A to capture tribes B C & D. Then we would turn on tribe A and enslave them too.

We owned human beings in the 1800s, when slavery was banned in Europe. We, flag-waving America owned human beings for profit in the land of the free.... free to white people that is.

So I blame the American institution slavery for the troubles in the African American community, because all other immigrants were poor, were distitute, but at the end of the day were still free people. Africans were not. And if that is not a chip on someone's shoulder, I don't know what is.

We were wrong, and we knew it, and we still did it.
And you posting this question on the eve of MLK day is questionable, and I sense you want to ruffle feathers.

Still, Africans selling slaves back and forth to each other is immaterial, compared to the European and American rape of Africa, the mother continent, and the enslavement of Africans to work for an American government that treated them like dirt.

Until the civil rights movement, African Americans worked, never to taste the fruits of their labors.

And whites are automatically born priveleged, because our system is still somewhat racist, and whites still have the gall to complain!

Slavery existed for around 200 years not 100. The reason American blacks are not speaking to those countries is because they don't live in africa they live here, and here is also where subsequent injustices were perpetrated. Also slavery was not just a private act. The Supreme Court ruled in the Dread scott case that a Black slave was property and had no rights (establishing the right of the slave owner). If there was no political muscle behind slavery it couldn't have continued. Anyway, times are different now and a black person can accomplish anything he/she wants to in this country.

I see the straining of your thoughts and this is what comes to mind--you fellow internet junkie you!!

Figure this--before 1st world nations realized the absolute value of natural resources--cheap labor was the Capitalists main need. I'm kinda led to believe that the buyer's were in league with the folks that acquired slaves illegally without African gov't knowledge or protocol.

I don't believe the US owes African Americans any money for slavery- why should this goverment be responsible for the individual private acts of its citizens? If they want money, then go after the private citizens & their estates... But as for the rest of us, my parents are 2cd generation Irish, we had no slaves, were not around when there were slaves, so why should my tax money go toward repayment of something I am not responsible for?

the problem with that is american tax money that goes to african countries. would they gain or be paying for their own reparations. did king ask for reparations? he was a wise man. the seller is worse.
