hey!!

aww...congrats for entering...WOMAN HOOD!!!!!

hey, im 14 too and i started last year though!!!!

Well my story is that i got my first period, at our SCHOOL camp...yeh...you never really hear of that happening to many people...but it just HAD to come on the day of camp!!!(isnt it weird that your first periods always seem to come at the most unexpected times!!) and yeah...i was stressing out..coz i had no pads with me...but yeh eventually i told a close friend...and she rounded up pads for me!!!!

wow...your story sounds pretty embbarrising!! you poor thing!!!!! but dont worry, we all have our embarrissing moments and its just a simple part of life...im sure people will forgot about it...and its not like those people in the mall ARE EVER going to see you again or reconize you(apart from ur friends)

anyways...here are my tips:::
:

: I used pads the first time...coz tampons can be a little tricky n u need to find out what size you are aswell!

:i had cramps the other day and couldnt sleep but some ADVIL will help ease the pain and so will a hot water bottle on your stomache!!

: dont hope out of the shower and dry yourself with a white towel....as you can tell..what could happen!!

: change every 3 to 4 hours or so!

: buy some overnight pads for nighttime...so you wont leak!!

and thats about it!!!

i hope i helped and dont worry i know how you feel coz im the same age!!!

just keep your head up high and be proud that you are a woman!!!!!

hope all goes well!

Congratulations on your first period. I can see how that would be embarrassing. I would use pads at first and then try tampons. Use whichever you're more comfortable with. My first one happened while I was at home. However, there is one story that I'll never forget.

When I was 15, I went to Europe with my mom for 5 weeks. We went to 4 countries and traveled by plane, car, train, etc. One night we took a ferry to an island in Yugoslavia. These guys took our seat so we had nowhere to sleep. We went directly from the ferry to a bus. We then took a long bus ride to a tourist beach area. We spent several hours on the bus, which didn't have a bathroom. I hadn't gone to the bathroom in way too long. When we arrived at the beach, I stood up and all this blood came flowing out. We're talking a ton that completely went through my clothes and down my leg. I don't want to gross you out, but it was very embarrassing. Not to mention we couldn't find pads and all they had were OB tampons. Those are the kind that don't have applicators. I had never used them and couldn't believe that people actually did. Now I can look back and laugh, but I thought I was going to die of embarrassment at the time. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

Too start pads are better for someone your age but if you want to try tampons, make sure you read the directions COMPLETELY and use the light ones first. (there is an illness you can get caused by tampons, my friends sister almost died from it, It's called TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME and it is discussed in the directions of the tampons)

I was 11 when I first started mine and I bought a tampon from a quarter machine in the mall and of course the singles don't come with directions so I put the whole thing inside me (even the applcator) I was so uncomfortable!! I felt really stupid.

My mother would not allow me to use tampons because she was afraid of it breaking my hymen. This is a myth since your hymen has an opening large enough to fit a tampon through.

My suggestion for pain is to take advil or midol or pamprin, whatever you prefer. Get rest and fluids, maybe a heating pad and ice packs and just grin and bear it. I used to have intense cramping at first. It will get better.

Try taking a pain reliever (Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, aspirin) every 4-6 hours to keep ahead of the cramping. You should only cramp the first 2 days.

Your friend should have been more understanding and whispered to you while trying to get you out of the mall before anyone else noticed. I actually broke my foot and was almost electrocuted the day my first period started. I guess its shocking no matter when or where you are.

You may want to start with pads. Tampons arent for everyone, but I find they are much more convenient. Buy a few types of products and find out which ones you prefer.

Good luck to you!

dont worry, no one has a first period story that isnt embarrassing. the best thing to do for the cramps is just to lay down and relax, maybe with a head pad or hot water bottle. if you're going to take any pain killers (there are special ones you can get from the chemist especially for period pain) make sure you have eaten half an hour before taking them. As for pads or tampons, since you've just started, i'd go with pads. when you feel comfortable you can use tampons, but its best to start with the smaller size first.

Oh my gurlie I totally understand lol! its totally normal....and I am so sorry for you to have that happen to you! Well my friend was in the store and the same thing happened to her. Blood leaked through her skirt and it was so embarrasing for her, but its totally normal! Luckily she had a jacket! I haven't had any embarassing moments so far lol...! Don't feel bad at all though...its a natural process that gives the world lifes little bundles of joy lol! anyways for the cramps try a warm water bottle just below your stomach and it helps soothe it. Take midol or ibeprofen really knocks the pain out! Eat healthy and do some light exercise in between orr last couple of days to feel a little better...this works for some people. Stay away from high caffenated drinks and sugary foods...that just puts alot of strain on your bladder and can put more hardship for your cramps....relaxing is the key too, take a nap if you can they can help ease the pain for a little while. Pads work much better in my experience, but get one that makes you feel comfortable and for your level of flow as well.. you'll do absolutley fine and happy period!

You need to change every couple of hours so that youdont get blood on your clothes. There is something you can take called Ponderstan for severe cramps or other forms of medication that youcan ask for at a chemist. If you can manage to put in tampons by yourself all the better. It really is a choice factor and what makes you feel comfortable.

Midol or Tylenol Womens is really good for cramps. Just relax and maybe try a heating pad? Everyone has embarrassing stories about their first period.... you'll forget it. I would start out with pads until you're used to having a period, and then maybe have a mother or sister talk to you about tampons.

For cramping take a calcium-magnesium-zinc pill 3 times daily with each meal. If cramps are really bad take 2 pills on bad days with each meal. Midol helps with the pain. Good luck. The ladies will have to help you with the rest!

I know that feeling. Just get a heating pad or a hot water bottle and put it on you tummy. Take Tylonal or IB Profen and try to just go to sellp and forget about it.

I was 10 and at home. I saw spots on my underwear and i asked my dad. He said he didn't know and to ask my mom when she got home. So i did and she told me that i had gotten my period. My dad told my mom later that he knew that, but thought it was better for her to tell me. Your friend shouldn't have said it som loudly. I told my friend once when i noticed her. I just called her over to me and whispered it in her ear. I gave her my jacket and she tied it around her waist until we got inside and then she took care of it.

Good luck with it. Hope you can get to sleep.
