The main cause for the employment of children below the age of 14 years in some areas is that they are seen as cheap source of employment by the employers...u may be seeing children working in dhabas ,road side restuarants...they are so deprived that even their family sees them as extra hands for income...they get low wages and are forced to work for longer hours....they dont have a bright childhood.......In India child labour has been practised extensively and for a very long time...that the children dont have any option...either they earn their living or they suffer from lack of food...etc.their parents cant afford to give them 2 meals a day...........
It is sad to see their condition...it is easy said and done..but we will only realise their sufferings when we put ourselves in their place........

Hmm, I can think of several reasons off the top of my head---

1) It's cheap
2) The government is immoral
3) The employer is immoral
4) The parents are forcing their children to work
5) The children work to help their poor families out
etc etc

It all depends on the circumstances.

I have a feeling your question was rhetorical though.

Child labor is a real good example of "mans inhumanity to man." I have read and seen so much of it, its awful. the reasons are: because big business can use child labor (No ethics), its cheap (they don't have to pay as much for children as adults and certainly not as much as they would have to pay in America), some children have to work to help support their families and the hardest one for me is that sometimes the parents force their children to work for them.
