I do not know in Canada

I'd like to suggest you look into opening an account in a Credit Union instead. WHY? Because I have had one at a bank and at a credit union. The creidt union doesn't charge any fees for my having an account with them like the bank did and they are so much better to me customer service wise.

I believe they have Chase in Canada. It is an international bank.

Chequeing account - PC Financial (pcfinancial.ca). No minimum deposite required, no fees, unlimited transactions.

Savings account - ING Direct (ingdirect.ca), so far has the highest interest.
