Okay, if you are under 15 you should accept that there are three states of matter (solid, liquid and gas).

If, on the other hand, you are over 15 you should be aware of four (the fourth being plasma).

If you are over 17 you should know about another (amorphous solid - glass belongs to this state).

As you get older in your physics career you will learn that there are more than 10 (I lost count) states of matter, including:

Bose-Einstien condensate
Supersymmetrical solid
Superfluid

...and many many more. Each of these states of matter satisfy the requirements that make them equally as valid as 'solid, liquid and gas'.

So, depending on your schooling, the fifth state of matter would depend on the order in which you write them.

To Babak, what on earth does your dream-world have to do with Physics?

This is a great question. I never doubt anyone would get to this point. The fifth state of matter which I call it "The Fifth Dimension" is the borderline of the physics and the metaphysics. We could explain it as a "Scene" It includes all of the other states of matters, the dimensions and the time + a place at universe where it happens ONLY ONCE. For example what happens to us now in this place at universe will never ever happen again in reality at the same dimensions and time. Every simulation will fail to copy. You could have a picture, movie, memory dream etc, but not the same or to stop the time or to reverse it to get to that scene or the fifth state of matter.

The fifth state of matter is Filaments.

There's five states now???? Listen, kiddo, back in my day we only had three states of matter, and it was good enough for us. We didn't need no stinkin' plasma. We had solids, liquids, and gasses and they were good enough for us.

The fifth one, by the way, is a Bose-Einstein condensate.

Edit: Thank you, Mez, for an utterly beautiful comment that gave me a much-needed chuckle.
