The best place to find out is from the game production houses themselves. Go to their websites, and see what jobs they have listed on their Careers page - it will list the descriptions and the educational requirements for each.

I believe you should get a degree in videogame design. more and more colleges are offering them. You should try and get an internship with one of the companies as soon as you can. Companies are more likely to hire someone that has experience, and getting an internship will get you that experience and put you ahead of others even before you're out of school. I can't stress this enough! Read all the game magazines and become an expert in the industry..not just in "playing" the games. You need to know what's going on. The game industry is much more competitive than it used to be since colleges are offering courses in it, so anything you can do to make yourself look better than the others will help. And I know people that started as customer service reps or game testers and have worked their way up to Executive Producers or even have started their own company. There's a lot of money in this business so if you are good at what you do and passionate, you could go far. : )
