Mostly I agree with you. If somebody doesn't want to give a helpful answer then they probably shouldn't bother to answer the question. But some questions are so ridiculous or offensive it's almost irresistable not to be rude. People who post questions must know this. Every time you post a question you take the risk of getting that type of answer, just ignore the ones you don't find helpful. I'm sure you right, a lot of people to just get a kick out of being rude which is doubtless what yahoo answers does for them, that is their right, so they answer rudely and they are happy, you ignore it so you are happy. Everybody's happy!

Some people are just rude all the time. With Yahoo Answers sometimes it feels like you are not face to face with someone so rudeness is OK and sometimes it is felt they can answer the way they are treated. The answerer may have had a really bad day too. There are alot of reasons people do what they do. I would never tell someone to GET A LIFE or something like it just to be mean.

This question has been asked time and again. It is obvious that some people are just very narrow minded and stupid. But that is some human nature for you. Saying that, you ahve to be careful how you answer because you could get a violationnotice and loose 11 points like I did for answering one word. YEP. The question was did anyone else have a bad new years eve? and I answered YEP, not wanting to go into it and I got a violation otice and lost 11 points. Heaven know why, because I dont, and yet you get bad and rude answers who get away with it!!!! I am at a loss for words!!

Some people are cowards. They will be doing this here at Yahoo and as well, anywhere else. Is in their miserable nature. They feel empowered by being rude with others and put them down, but they don't act like that with those superior to them, because they can't take the heat.
You can do 2 things, make them taste their own poison or ignore their existence.
Remember not to take anything too personal, since here nobody actually know you that well, to have their opinion so wighted on your mind.

I would never say that to you. I agree with you that there are a lot of nasty peopleon the internet. 10 years ago, these same people would have been deemed antisocial and just stayed home and had no contact with the outside world altogether. With the advent and proliferation of the internet, that means now that ANYBODY can go on the internet, do and say whatever they want, and do it with a great amount of anonymity.
I sympathize with you and your concern, and I agree that the internet brings out a lot of antisocial behavior that otherwise would have been suppressed even as recently as 10 years ago.

I agree, but for some part it's probably b/c they haven't met the person, the judgemental person is someone that has nothing better to do, and probably because the person asking the question is asking something that is too embarrasing to ask family and friends, b/c its too personal, or its a question people are stubborn for and give an irrelevant answer.

Some people are like that, you just have to shrug it off and if you think someone has made an inappropriate comment, give them a thumbs down.

I share your frustration at the rudeness of some people. If I were you I would put it down to their ignorance, which I know is sometimes easier said than done. Anyway, you take care of yourself, and don't let such people get you down.
Best wishes, J

I agree, no need for rudeness, just be polite. and they shouldn't answer unless they know what they are talking about - someone might take the advice and end up in a bad way if the advice is wrong.
