you probably have bruising to your to your upper jaw and the muscles surrounding it which make it sore when you clench. this could take a few weeks to heal up.

apply ice to the bumped area for 10-15 mins a few times a day. make sure to not put the ice directly on your skin (causes ice burns). this should help with the pain and swelling.

as long as you aren't experiencing a severe headache, changes in vision (blurriness, spots), mental status changes (disoriented or confused), and/or vomiting then i think you'll be ok. you can take ibuprofen for the pain and swelling as long as you don't have any of the above symptoms. ibuprofen is a blood thinner and in the event that you had a bleed in your brain-it would make it worse.

take 200-400mg every 6 hours as needed but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours

If it hit close to the temple but jarred the socket in the jaw high close to the joint by the ear, I know from experience it can stay sore for a bout 4 to 6 weeks. BUT it should be getting better and better although it is a slow improvement.

How long ago?

As long as you didn't black out from it, yoi should be fine.

You may just have a lingering bruise.

If it continues for several more weeks or if it gets worse see a doc.
