If you absolutely have to buy a foreign car.......check out Nissan. They have timing chains and stronger cv joints than toyota and especially honda and they are cheaper to buy. mazdas tend to smoke and blow heads and transmissions. mitsubishi is better than mazda

Honda and Toyota are the most reliable. Mazda's are above average but not up there. There is only one Mazda as reliable as Honda's and Toyota's. The Mazda Protege is mazda's most reliable car and lasts just as long as the toyota corolla and honda civic.

Generally, Toyota is best and Honda is a close second in terms of quality and reliability. Mazda is a distant third due to many of its cars and parts being from its parent company; Ford.

Any car will last a LONG time if it is maintained properly. Most high end mercedes etc. are maintained well and therefor last a long time. Honda/Toyota reliability is just in your head!.. Now if your talking the feel of the finished product?

I have had two toyotas (camry and celica), three hondas (civic), and one mazda (mx-6). All of them were great cars, but i would have to say its a tie between honda and toyota. You can't go wrong with either of them, and they both hold resale value better than most other cars.

It's not compared to those other two, with Toyota being the best and Honda very close.

we owned a 1991 mazda mx-6 GT. When we sold it it had almost 250,000 miles on it-with the original engine, turbo, clutch, transmission. Except for the usual maintenance we had no problems with it. we sold it last year for $5,000
