It would still be a sin. However, my feeling is in catching this type of thief is that we should work to help them. The old adage, "teach a man to fish ..." However, if we simply turned a blind eye then society is harmed. The hurting thief may steal from someone who is barely making ends meet and could possibly cause them to resort to stealing as well.

Maybe in Western civilization it is a sin to steal, but you try telling that to a child or adult for that matter in a third world country and who are literally starving, that stealing a piece of bread is a sin, Do you think morals would come into it. I dont think so. If it was me I would take the whole loaf.

No, you have to earn what you want. There's no moral way around it. Your only value to other people is the product of your efforts of your mind and labor. Stealing is the use of force outside of self-defense and begging is a crime, using guilt as a weapon. Committing crimes demeans oneself while harming others. If you take that person's bread you are saying that your life and what you own and earn is worthless and ought to be freely taken by anyone on any whim, and that's just wrong. To stand up for what is right even in the most dire of circumstances is the test of our humanity. You have to get a job, produce something of some honest value to someone, provide for yourself by some sort of fair trade, or else you shouldn't live. But I doubt it would come to that for most people, even if every homeless shelter, charity, and SSI were shut down, I think people would pull themselves up, and not jump off bridges.

I hate to disagree with (i appreciate Allah) and (Fireball) yet in some cities that's unlawful to beg and busk for money or regardless of. And in some cities the homeless shelters are finished and characteristic to teach people away. no longer that some time previous I examine in the paper the position a nutrition monetary employer had to close down because it did no longer have sufficient volunteers to artwork there to maintain it open. i have also considered for the period of different circumstances the position nutrition banks run out of nutrition and characteristic to teach people away. that's a tragic statement on the state of our united states notwithstanding that's a truth we ought to always all be attentive to. i fairly do not trust god would carry it hostile to someone that grow to be doing what they had to do to no longer starve to death. even if it grow to be begging, stealing, prostitution or regardless of, people fairly could comprehend there is not any longer always an difficulty-free patent answer for each and each difficulty.

Is it wrong for a sex-starved person to rape someone?
At the end of the day, the law is still being broken and unfortunately their aren't any clauses that allow stealing on the grounds of extreme poverty.

Alice Cooper was right when he said that this is a "brutal planet".

Sin has nothing to do with it. Humans differ from other animals because we can reason. By reasoning, we know that stealing is counterproductive to group behavior and group survival. However, when we do not actively share and help one another, this is also counterproductive to a group.

depends on the reason why the poor person cant afford the bread. if they simply dont want to work, then yes its bad, if they really really really cant afford it no matter what they do, then no. its on every persons conscience.
