I am going on 38 weeks and here lately I have been, in the middle of the night, woke myself up feeling about to regurgitate. It can't be the same as heartburn because i've had heartburn my whole pregnancy but just started feeling the regurgitation. It just bothers me that its so bad and so strong that it wakes me out of my sleep.

Yes, it's very normal. I've tried everything and nothing helps my morning sickness. I'm only 7 1/2 weeks and I've been vomiting non-stop since 3 weeks pregnant, amazing it started so early, I know. It was actually my first tip-off to take a test. I'll take the reflux in the mouth 100 times a day over vomiting as severely as I do even once a day.

It is very common.
Don't eat 2-3 hours before bedtime
Get some pillows and sleep at 45 degrees
Eat a saltene Cracker or two
If this continues to be bad, talk to your doctor about it

The same thing that caused the heartburn is causing it to reflux back up into your esophagus. It's the pressure of the baby. You can try propping yourself up a bit when you go to bed,so you are not lying flat. Things like Mylanta to settle the acid in your stomach before you go to bed sometimes help.If it's really uncomfortable, see your doctor, there may be a safe alternative, stronger medication,to reduce the amount of acid in your stomach.

You are definately not alone........I had this feeling late in both my pregnancies, It is actually just reflux and although uncomfortable it is in no way harmful and perfectly normal.Good luck with the birth.

yep it probably is. Tell your doctor and they can tell you what is okay to take to make it stop. I deal with heart burn and acid reflux all the time...

An old myth says that frequent heartburn is a sign the baby will have a head full of hair. This was true with my daughter.

Sad to say it's very normal and I get the same feeling. Try the fruity tums with calcium those always seem to help me.

Very normal, unfortunately. The suggestion to sit up a bit is a good one. I found that Maalox worked best for me but it wasn't great. My doctor advised against using Pepto or anything with "pink bismuth" in it so watch out for that.
One trick that has worked for me is to limit my diet to VERY bland, boring foods at the end of the pregnancy. No grease, no fats. Meat based soups, sauces, etc are the worst.
You can try milk (esp. whole milk or 1/2 and 1/2), it worked about half the time for me.
Another trick is calcium supplements. That is the main ingredient in Tums and they have worked for me - you get more of it that in a Tums. You will need it anyway and you won't be able to "overdose" on it as long as you follow the directions. Just plain old calcium that you can get at the pharmacy.

Sorry to tell you but some nights I took a calcium pill washed down with 1/2 & 1/2, a dose of Maalox and slept sitting up in a recliner.

It will pass soon and your lovely baby will be the reward. Good luck and blessinsg to you both!
