You meet your Creator, you are judged by your actions in heaven and you are sent to paradise or purgatory.

It either goes to a place where it is with God for eternity, usually called Heaven or it goes to a place where it is eternally separated from God, usually called Hell. What determines where it will go depends on the relationship of the person with God.
God is the creator of the universe and, since he made everything, he owns everything. Therefore he gets to make all the rules.
However, he has said that he loves his creation, man, so much that he has provided a way for man to escape his eternal separation from God which he earned when he decided to disobey God's rules. He, God Himself, came to earth to take on Himself the punishment which man deserves. Thus, if man decides to follow God's will instead of his own will then a man's soul will spend eternity with God instead of separated from God.
I suggest that you read the Gospel of John, then the other three Gospels, then the rest of the New Testament to find out how this may be done.

I don't know where "blt" gets his information. What Ecclesiastes 9:5-10 says is "For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten. -- for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going." Not only do these verses say that the soul is going somewhere but there are plenty of other verses in the Bible which speak to the consciousness of the soul of man after death.
The Bible is very clear about the fact that the believer's soul (spirit) survives death (Luke 12:4), is consciously present with the Lord (2 Cor. 5:8) in a better place (Phil. 1:23) where other souls are talking (Matt. 17:3) and even praying (Rev. 6:9-10). Likewise , the unbeliever's soul is in a place of conscious torment (Matt. 25:41; Luke 16:22-26; Rev. 19:20--20:15).
What the verses in Ecclesiastes refer to is the fact that while they no longer know what is happening on earth, they certainly do know what going on in heaven.
Also, it doesn't take a genius to figure out how fast the dead are forgotten. How many people know anything about their great grandparents lives? How many even know the names of their great-great grandparents? How many world famous movie stars of 20 or 40 years ago do the present generation know? If doesn't take long to be totally forgotten in this world.

The condition of the dead is made clear at Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, where we read: "The dead know nothing . . . There is no pursuit, no plan, no knowledge or intelligence, within the grave." (Moffatt) Death, therefore, is a state of nonexistence. The psalmist wrote that when a person dies, "his spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish."—Psalm 146:4.

Clearly, the dead do not exist. They cannot know anything. They cannot see you, hear you, or talk to you. They can neither help you nor harm you.

In the Bible, the words translated "spirit" basically mean "breath." But this implies much more than the act of breathing. The Bible writer James, for example, states: "The body without spirit is dead." (James 2:26) Hence, spirit is that which animates the body.

Consider what happened to Adam at his death. When he sinned, God told him: "You [will] return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return." (Genesis 3:19) Think of what that means. Before God created him from the dust, Adam did not exist. After his death, Adam returned to the same state of nonexistence.

If you're asking from a scientific point of view, where you use your five sense to test a theory, it appears we cease to exist and decompose. If, however, you are asking for a spiritual answer, that will depend on your religious view. From a Christian viewpoint (the only one I feel comfortable commenting on from experience), you have to have made a decision to accept Christ's life and crucifixion as a sacrifice to cover the original sin of Adam in rejecting God's authority.
