Apparently you are assuming the aliens will be aggressive. This is a human trait - even a more basic animalistic and psychologic the "Id". These emotions may have no place with aliens. If they do exist (I enjoy the idea of this) and are already spying on us it's too late. We have already done nothing. We have to assume that they found us and are scientifically more advanced to achieve this. I think they will just wait it out for us to destroy ourselves. Since the most hendering part of space travelling long distances is the amount of time it will take to get point A to point B. Most likely they have time travelled to a state where we are defenseless from our own follies and we couldn't put up a fight if we wanted to. The fact that we might still be alive leaves the possiblity for a fight cause that is human. The only thing better than that would be that we actually evolve into something greater than ourselves. We are basically an unchanging stubborn leach and virus upon the Earth. It is no wonder we hope for aliens to exist. On the otherside of the coin our whole existance (everything before us and after us) might be a science experiment and it's already too late. Welcome to the bitter end...

I would not accept them as my new master neither would I fight with them till the bitter end. I knowing me, will probably make friends with them and live happily ever after amongst them.
