I really want to go on a beach during May or in June. I live DC, about a hundred miles from Ocean City and Virginia Beach.

Mrytle Beach is GARBAGE! I was born and partially raised in South Carolina. You want nice beaches?
Isle of Palms, SC (right outside of Charleston, SC)
Edisto Island, SC (grandma's house is there)
Sunset Beach, NC (private beach you can rent a house for an affordable price secluded about 20 minutes from Myrtle beach, Its actually an island, with its own bike rentals and homemade ice cream shop)
Ormond Beach, FL (north of Daytona Beach)
Cocoa Beach, FL

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Long drive. But totally worth it. Or you an just go to Ocean City or Virginia Beach.

i been to the east coast many times i wish i could fine these beaches with big waves that you speak of. Dont go to southern california beaches if you think waves on east coast are big..
