so, my troubles started when itunes wouldnt recognise my ipod. then i noticed, usually where anything is plugged into a usb port, it shows up in "My Computer". it didnt. then i noticed, it wasnt even showing the charging symbol on the ipod battery when it was plugged in. i tried 2 different cables, same thing happened. i reset the ipod holding menu and the middle circle button, and nothing happened. but, now it wont shut off. 2 ipods have done this. i need help before i blow them up.

Are you sure it isn't your USB port that's not working..? I would strongly recommend trying another usb device to see if your pc recognises that either before blaming your ipod.

Also, resetting your USB ports can work sometimes. This involves disconnecting ALL of your usb devices, turning off your pc *and* unplugging it and waiting a couple of mins before plugging it back in and turning it on.

Hope this helps, but if not try the ilounge, those guys on the forum know *everything* ipod related!

Try to plug in your anyone of your ipod to PC. Make sure the toggle switch is on for ipod. Reboot your PC together with ipod. Don't remove ipod and repair your iTunes. You may need to repair your OS if its still not recognise your ipod. If recognised, restore your ipod. Hope it works.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling itunes. That could be causing the problem.
