I think the family knew, and they didn't say anything.

Because the family lived so close to Devlin, they surely must have visited. When they visited, they would have seen Shawn.

If the family is involved, I hope they suffer also.

Well I don't know, I mean who does? But you have a point there, was it possible for them not to know? He kept Shawn for 4 years and didn't try to hide him. They either had no contact with him for that long or they were so ignorant not to notice a strange little boy with him when whole neighborhood knew him by the name of Shawn Devlin. The time will tell. Let just hope everybody get what they deserve.

It's hard to say. It is possible that they had no contact with him. But it is equally possible that they were enabling him. If that is the case, then they should be punished as well. I don't know how any human with a conscience could have gone along, especially after seeing Shawn Hornbeck's picture everywhere and TV coverage of the searches and annual vigils.

The family's statement was interesting--how they hope he will be safe as HIS story comes out. As if they were justifying him kidnapping and keeping (and God knows what else) those 2 boys. It's going to be hard to make that case.
