Maybe you should see a doctor. Benadryl will only make you sleepy or drowsy. It doesn't actually work on the brain mechanisms that control the sleeping processes. There are many good, non narcotic sleep aids on the market (by prescription only) that will give you much needed DEEP, REM sleep that Benadryl can't give you.

When you see the doctor, he will ask you a battery of questions, such as what you eat before bed, do you keep regular bedtimes, exercise and eat well during the day, and how much napping during the day. They will want an MRI of the brain, and possibly a sleep study to watch your sleep patterns.

I have done all these things, and I am on 7 different types of sleeping meds, currently. Benadryl will make a person sleepy, but for long term use, or for deep sleep, it is not intended for a sleep aid.

Insomnia left untreated is a deadly and dangerous thing, and can lead to the shutdown of your other bodily function. Be careful in your daily activities until you have talked to a medical professional concerning your sleep habits.
