It depends. In religions with many gods , deities usually have gender (like the ancient Greek, Egyptian, Norse etc). In monotheistic religions (those who believe in one god, like Christianity , Islam, etc) often the deity is male.
In my opinion God is a Spirit and Spirits have no gender.

It's really funny when someone mentions Deities and god pops up as if he is the only one.
Yes deities have genders. Look at greek and roman mythology. Then look at Judao-Christian Mythology. All Myths and legends have placed a sex on the god or goddess of their choice.

Deities, such as the Orishas have genders (Ochun is female Chango, is male) but n monotheist religions they tend to always be males... or at least that's what people are made to believe anyways...
