I would assume it was some kind of special effects thing.

Maybe they had a hole in the matress underneath her butt and they passed the baby up through the hole.

I doubt seriously they had the actor that played Kay actually give birth on screen! (How would they do a second take - have the baby go back into her uterus?)

i came here looking for the same answer.

It looked real as hell, i saw a vagina or what looked to be a vagina as the baby, in a NON CUT SCENE - was wiggling and crying etc with a cord attached.

But seeing as it wasnt all over the news that for the first time a live birth had been done in a film that made it to the big screen - ill have to disbelieve my eyes.

I've never seen such a scene appear more real. CGI? doesnt seem like it was. If you have proof to these answers, please provide direct links!!
