Ive bought a fish tank it has calcium on the inside of the tank and on the top and edges, i usually would use vineger and rinse it really good but i want to put plants and discus in it and afraid it would effect them is there any other better ways of cleaning it

If you don't want to use any vinegar then you can use a simple razor blade and scrape the calcium off.

Vinegar is fine. If you rinse it, it will be fine.

Some people use vinegar to lower the pH in their aquariums. Even if you didn't rinse it, the only problem you would have is a slightly lowered pH until you did water changes. Plus, the only way you'd have a slightly lowered pH is if you left several cups of vinegar in the tank.

I'd also suggest you fill the tank with HOT water and add lots of bleach to kill any disease the previous owners had to deal with. Then drain and rinse and refill, add 3-4x the usual amount of dechlorinator (this will get all the bleach out) and you should be good to go.

The vinegar actually sounds like a great natural was to do it. If you rice it well enough it should have NO effects on your plants or discus. Good luck.

is it to hard to scrape off with a razor? I don think vineger is gonna effect anything
