People that are caught lying get all defensive cause that makes them realise they aren't as good at lying as they think.

It is a matter of not being able to have your cake and eat it too.

The manipulation part is all about power. For some reason people place a lot of importance in power.

Give you a tip. Look at their grasp for power as a boring sign of their weakness.

If they try to use something you have done against you just say to them "Go for it". Most of the time you will find they won't carry out their manipulation cause they are really afraid that you will dob them in for their lies.

Some people mistakenly believe that power is all about hurting someone else.

In actual fact it is about standing up for yourself.

It's a natural human response to utilize the defense mechanism when caught red-handed with one's "hand in the cookie jar."

Rationalizations are as common and normal in a lot of poeple. Because admitting guilt would be like admitting defeat. Human beings on the whole, try to talk themselves out of a difficult situations in more ways than not. A well known example in this instance is former Pres Clinton who denied "having sex with Monica Lewinsky." Or smoking dope. He "didn't swallow."

That's why it's humanlike to stumble and fall. But it takes a stronger person to admit when he's wrong and apologize.

Because we never want to admit being wrong. As human beings it's just one of the toughest things ever, If it is an argument, and it has been going on for a while, and one person ends up wrong, he or she will defend themselves in any matter. It's like when people want to conform with other people. It's just humant nature, people don't like to be wrong.

My reason is out of fear of the other person I used to get beat by my dad for admitting to doing something wrong. Also depends on the reception of it by the other person and how they react. In the armed forces they get 1 inch from your face make you stand in front of the company so the others can see what's going to happen and scream at you for awhile. How they never run out of breath I will never know.

I believe is genuine selfishness! People who do not accept they are wrong and continue backing up their lies, have problem with their egoism. They are afraid to admit that they were mistaken, they do not want to be criticized since criticism for them is underestimation.
