When your transfering there are two things they look for. GPA and why are you transfering. The order depends on if your moving to a better school, a worse school, or a parallel school. If you're going to a better school the why is less important. They know why, they're better. They're going to want to see stellar grades as proof you can cut it in college. If you're chasing a gf/bf across the country they're going to look at both pretty evenly. You won't have to do outstanding, but if you're barely making it at your current school, then they'll think you'll barely make it there, and that's no good. And if you're flunking out of Harvard and you want to go to Joes College of BFE then they're going to want to hear why. Why you're doing poorly, why you'll do better, et cetra.

Honostly all that other stuff like volunteeting, being on the debate team, or being the beer pong champion, matters much less if you're in college now. High school grades can be hard to compare to college grades. College grades are easy to compare to college grades.

If you've taken a few years off and you're trying to transfer, it's largely about the why and the what you've been doing and how you needed those years off to be sure this is what you wanted to do.

Best of luck to you.

It depends on the school. I dropped out of college when I was young, and went back when I was 27 to a different school. The minimum GPA for transfer was 2.0. If you don't have the minimum GPA for transfer, you have to repeat the courses you did badly in.

Yes, your grade point average is very important for a transfer admission especially if the university you are applying to is competitive, and also it is important to have taken the classes that were required and pre-requisite courses for the major you have chosen before you transfer.

Most schools require you to have at least 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in each course for the credits to transfer. It's pretty important.

Yes, and schools look at if you did any volunteer work as well. If you want a good scholarship-you may as well get good grades AND work for free!
